Overview

We are seeking a Human-Robot Interaction (HRI) Intern to join our team at FloLabs Innovations Group , contributing to the design and development of user-friendly interaction models and interfaces for our humanoid robot. This position offers a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge HRI technologies, ensuring that human interactions with AI-powered robots feel natural, engaging, and intuitive.

Most recently, we’ve launched a new project focused on the development of our own humanoid robot - a major milestone in our mission to push the boundaries of intelligent systems and human-robot interaction. Interns who join our program may have the opportunity to contribute directly to this groundbreaking initiative.

As an HRI Intern, you will assist in developing interaction paradigms, conducting usability testing, and refining human-robot communication strategies. You will work closely with AI researchers, UX designers, and robotics engineers to implement effective interaction models that blend speech, gestures, facial recognition, and emotional responsiveness.

Additionally, you will engage in continuous research and evaluation of emerging AI tools to enhance productivity, staying abreast of the latest technological advancements. This proactive approach ensures our team remains at the forefront of innovation, integrating cutting-edge solutions into our workflows. Key Responsibilities

Assist in developing interaction models that enable seamless human-robot communication.
Conduct user studies and usability testing, gathering insights to refine interaction strategies.
Research and explore multimodal interaction techniques, including speech recognition, gaze tracking, facial expressions, and body language.
Collaborate with UX designers and robotics engineers to implement effective HRI solutions.
Study AI-driven personalization, enabling robots to adapt to individual user behaviors and preferences.
Document findings, analyze user feedback, and contribute to research publications in HRI and social robotics.
Participate in team meetings, brainstorming sessions, and workshops, contributing innovative ideas and problem-solving approaches.

Qualifications and Skills

Strong communication and analytical skills, with the ability to assess and refine user interactions.
Background in human-computer interaction (HCI), psychology, cognitive science, robotics, or UX design is a plus.
Experience with usability testing, user research, or interaction design methodologies.
Familiarity with natural language processing (NLP), speech recognition, or computer vision is beneficial.
Creative problem-solving abilities and an interest in AI-driven social robotics.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment, collaborating across multiple disciplines.

This internship is entirely remote, allowing you to contribute from anywhere. You can choose to work full-time (up to 40 hours per week) or part-time (a minimum of 8-10 hours per week) based on your availability.

On-site Internship (Optional):

If interested, we can offer onsite internships at two locations: Austin, Texas, and Lemnos, Greece.
